8 SIMPLE STEPS I TOOK TO LOSE 1 STONE IN JUST UNDER 4 WEEKS

First of all, if you haven't read my previous blog of me starting my healthy living journey then click here.
Secondly, I'm not a nutrition expert or anything like that I am just going to share with you my journey and how it is working for me so far.

Everybody's journey is different and everyone starts at different stages.
I'm a big girl and I know it's probably easier for me to lose weight quicker at this stage because I have lots of fat to lose.

That's what I always hear anyway! I might be wrong, who knows!
I'm still very much at the beginning of my journey by the way, at this point I have lost 20lbs in total, so everything is still really fresh and new.

HOW I KICKSTARTED MY JOURNEY

STOPPED BEING IN DENIAL.
This was the most important thing. I used to say to myself that I hardly eat and I don't eat that badly. Well clearly that was total utter shit. It's coming to terms with the truth sometimes but in order to make this work you really have to be completely honest with yourself.

STOPPED SNACKING
All I did was snack and only have like 1 meal a day but the snacks were crap. Literally chocolate bars, crisps, biscuits, bread, everything that isn't good for you. The calories started to add up.  Now I rarely snack and if I do it's something healthy or fat free.

BEING AWARE OF WHAT I PUT IN MY MOUTH
Now I am totally 100% aware of what I am putting in my mouth. It's really crazy how aware you become. Even when I eat out.  For instance, I went out and ordered a burger with onion rings and chips. I left the chips and all I ate that day was that meal because I knew that was all my body needed. You have to be totally aware of what your body needs.

HAVING AN EATING WINDOW & FASTING FOR 16 HOURS

I'm not going to go too much into this as there is so much information about this on the internet. Just search intermittent fasting. Basically, I don't eat after 6pm (most days) If I end up eating out late I just make sure I leave a 16-hour gap until my next meal. No sugar drinks in the meantime, you can have black coffee and tea though.
This reason I wanted to do this is because it's actually really good for you and mostly to train my body to not be hungry all the time. I always had that feeling of hunger or what I thought was hunger but now I don’t.   Honestly, Jon used to get sick of hearing 'I'm hungry!' And now he said the me the other day that he hasn’t heard me say those words in so long! Haha
I can go a lot longer without eating now. The first 3 days were quite hard but now it's really easy.
Longest I went without eating was 22 hours!

CHANGED MY DIET

I'm eating low carb and low-fat meals. I say LOW not NO carb or fat. I still eat a little bit because otherwise that would be really shit. I want to be able to do this for the rest of my life and it's a really easy way to eat.  If I go out for a meal I just have whatever I want but maybe not finish it or just make sure that's all I eat in the day as it's enough.
I normally eat like 2 main meals now, before it was 3 but I'm less hungry now.

EXERCISE

To be honest with you, I wasn't really doing any the first month of me losing weight. It's mostly about what you put in your mouth anyway. I read somewhere that it's 80% what you eat and 20% exercise. It's so true. I do weight training 3 days a week and 5-minute HIIT workouts before the weights. That's all. Do as much exercise as you like!

STOP OBSESSING OVER THE SCALES

When I first started I used to get so upset when my weight was fluctuating up and down but I have now realised that it's normal! Now, I'm not too bothered if it goes up by 1lb or something coz I know I will get that number down in the next few days. I have gotten better too by only weighting myself every 4 days now. I know it's not that great but still better than every day!

STOP EMOTIONAL EATING

This has been the biggest challenge for me, don't get me wrong there are some days when I nearly slip back into emotional eating which is the worst thing EVER. I am still working on it but this is what I was saying in my other post about how powerful your mind is.

That's it! That is what I have been doing and how I started this journey. I hope it helps some of you.
I want to go into some of these a bit deeper in the near future.

Stay strong! x
